Mithali Raj and Yastika Bhatia scored half-centuries against Australia on Saturday and presented a tough challenge to the Aussies at the ICC Women’s World Cup.

Raj and Bhatia’s fifties took India out of trouble as the initial score was 28/2 after six overs. Bhatia got out after scoring 59 runs, against the run of play, trying to score quick runs.

Australia women have been the most successful team, so far at the ICC Women’s World Cup 2022. They have won four out of the four games they have played so far. Apart from the last over finish against England, they have managed to win all their matches comfortably. On the other hand, the Indian team has won two and lost two matches in the run-up to the India vs Australia WC match.

Australia women have their one feet inside the semi-final, whereas India, if they win today can seriously present their contender-ship for the semifinal berth.

Mithali Raj also got out for 68 runs trying to up the ante in the 38th over. India’s score when Raj got out was 186/4. India women would be satisfied if they are able to reach the 250-260 mark.

The match is being played at Eden Park in Auckland which is a ground that has historically favored the batters. There’s grass on the pitch and the humidity is also on the higher side, thus,  thus it will be a high-scoring match.

Meanwhile, Jhulan Goswami was presented her 20th cap before the start of the match. She is only the second woman cricketer ever to have played more than 200 ODIs for country.
